I was inspired to paint this after spending a beautiful day in Camden, Maine at the Laite Memorial Beach. The sky and water were such an incredible bright blue, the horizon was clear, the sun was shining and I felt like I had the world in my hands. Life could not have been better in that moment. I decided while painting it though, to add the storm coming in the distance. Beautiful moments in life can be fleeting and feel like they fall through our fingers so easily, like the other shoe will drop at any moment and spoil it all... but we have to remember that living right now is what counts. That is what this painting means to me, enjoying the moment while it lasts.
