"Shadow Telling Under The Sea" - 2024 Acrylic Painting by Dakota Daetwiler
I painted this piece of a whimsical scene of a mother octopus tucking her kids into bed while reading them a story. Who can't relate with this in some way? The fun part is, octopi make very little sound and mostly communicate to each other through gestures and changing colors. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to create an even more in-depth imaginative experience since the mother octopus could not be reading her book to her kids, she must act it out for them using a lantern and shadows on the cave wall.
